CityDance
Since 2003, the USA IBC has hosted CityDance, a free after-school ballet program for Jackson Public School students ages 7 to 12 years old. Participants receive weekly ballet training and free dancewear during the academic year. New students do not have to have prior dance experience and are selected based on flexibility, rhythm, and their ability to follow dance instruction. Students present an end-of-year performance for family, friends, and the public. Sometimes, our CityDance students perform at other special events, such as our Reunion Gala.
CityDance is presented through the generous support of the Mississippi Arts Commission, Greater Jackson Arts Council, Ballet Mississippi, Jazzy Dancer, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Molpus, and The Charles Sumner Bird Charitable Foundation.
Auditions for the 2012-2013 academic year were held on September 8 in the Mississippi Arts Center in downtown Jackson for Jackson Public School District elementary school students. Over 100 students auditioned for 50 spots in this program.
