The rules for the USA International Ballet Competition were originally established in 1979, based on the rules of the original International Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria. Since that time, the rules have been reviewed and refined before each USA IBC. Throughout its history, the USA IBC has earned a reputation as one of the most equitable international ballet competitions.
The competitor application, repertoire and rules for the 2006 USA International Ballet Competition are available below for informational purposes only. The USA IBC reserves the right to change the rules and repertoire for the 2010 competition, but the 2006 document is posted here as a guide for future competitors.

To aid competitors in identifying variations that conform to the 2006 USA IBC repertoire, the USA IBC has made music excerpts available to potential competitors. These excerpts can be found on the Repertoire and Music page on the USA IBC web site.
