The USA IBC is designated the official IBC within the United States by a Joint Resolution of the U. S. Congress. Jackson, as host city for America’s IBC, embraces its visitors from around the globe, welcoming each with genuine hospitality and appreciation. The entire metropolitan area rolls out the red carpet for the convening of top young dancers, artistic directors and dignitaries, dance students, instructors, balletomanes and arts enthusiasts.
For two glorious weeks, regardless of nationality, the universal language of dance transcends all differences, uniting Mississippians and their guests in the celebration of an art form that inspires with its timeless beauty and power.
Thalia Mara Hall is revered as the platform from which many young dancers have seen the meteoric rise of their careers. In addition to daily performances by the competitors in three rounds of competition, there are other activities to attend: guest artists, workshops, lectures, exhibits and, for qualifying ballet students, the USA IBC Dance School. The USA IBC culminates with an Awards Gala, in which medalists perform selections chosen for them by the jurors, and a Grand Prix Ball of jubilation. The final evening’s Encore Gala provides a last opportunity to catch medalists’ award-winning performances before they depart in every direction for the journey home.
