Please review all the instructions below before beginning your application. We recommend preparing all the materials needed to complete your application before beginning the 2023 Competitor Application, Part I. DEADLINE: January 16, 2023.

3. Review the Competitor & Non-Competing Partner Release Form and Applicant Agreement. Choose ‘I Agree’ from each of the drop-down menus.

COUPLES WITH TWO COMPETING PARTNERS:

Couples who are applying with two competing partners submit TWO separate applications. Please complete the following:

1. Select ONE Pas De Deux from the Round I classical repertoire for the video application.
2. Upload a headshot (in color) for each competing partner in your separate applications- photos must be no smaller than 5″ x 7″ (13 x 18cm). Please save your headshot file as LAST NAME_HEADSHOT. For example: SMITH_HEADSHOT.
3. Review the Competitor & Non-Competing Partner Release Form and Applicant Agreement. Choose ‘I Agree’ from each of the drop-down menus.

2023 Applicant Agreement:

APPLICANT AGREEMENT: By selecting “I Agree” from the drop down menu below, applicants waive all rights to royalties and payments for participation in the USA IBC, its Awards Gala, and Encore Gala, and hold the USA International Ballet Competition harmless from any claim concerning their participation in the competition. The applicant agrees to be bound by the 2023 USA IBC Rules and Regulations. The applicant has read and agreed to the terms below:

Competitors must arrive in Jackson, Mississippi on Monday, June 5, 2023. The USA IBC CANNOT provide competitor transportation or accommodations prior to this date.
Studio rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, June 6. No competitor studio rehearsals will be scheduled prior to this date. There will be no studio rehearsals on Saturday, June 10, but competitor class will be offered.
Tech rehearsals at Thalia Mara Hall will begin on Wednesday, June 7. Competitors MUST attend assigned technical rehearsals.
ALL REHEARSAL TIMES AND LOCATIONS ARE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE USA IBC STAFF AND MUST BE STRICTLY OBSERVED. REHEARSAL ASSIGNMENTS ARE NON-NEGOTIABLE.
Competitors MUST inform the Artistic Administrator by emailing sberrylee@usaibc.com if there is a change in the coach accompanying them to Jackson. Competitors further understand that they may only have ONE coach assigned to them. If dancing as a couple, partners MUST use the same coach.
Only your designated coach may accompany you backstage.
NO alterations of any kind may be made to the requisite classical music. Pitch control may not be altered in the theatre.
Competitor program to be performed must be submitted in writing to the USA IBC office by April 16, 2023. All necessary choreography and music permissions for Round II and Round III contemporary must be received by this date. Contemporary music (MP3 audio files) for Round II and Round III must be submitted by April 16, 2023 as well.
Competitors eliminated after Round I are encouraged to participate in the Edward Stierle Contemporary Showcase, on June 17, 2023, by performing contemporary works prepared for Round II or Round III. Due to the limited number of pieces that can be featured in this showcase, if interest exceeds available space a lottery system will be used to select the dancers for the showcase.
Competitors eliminated after Round I and Round II are required to participate in the Choreography Workshop in order to stay at the competition at no cost. Workshop participants will work with a renowned choreographer to create a new work to be performed at the competition. Round 1 eliminated competitors will perform on June 19, 2023. Round 2 eliminated competitions will perform at the Awards Gala on June 23, 2023.
If competitor or coach contact information (mailing address, telephone or email) changes in any way before June 5, 2023, the competitor will notify the USA IBC Artistic Administrator via email at sberrylee@usaibc.com
