CityDance Auditions
CityDance Auditions are held each year on the Saturday after Labor Day. Children between the ages of 7-12 years old are invited to participate. Students must attend Jackson Public Schools to be accepted into the program.
2026 CITYDANCE AUDITION INFORMATION:
2026-2027 school year audition will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the Mississippi Art Center. Watch for a flyer in your child’s school papers in August.
Auditions are open to boys and girls ages 7 to 12, and no dance experience is required. Children must be 7 years old by September 12th, no exceptions. 12-year-olds must have completed the CityDance program in a prior year. Selection is based on flexibility, rhythm, and the ability to follow dance instructions. All audition material will be taught on the audition day.

9:00 am 7-8 year old girls
10:00 am 9-10 year old girls
11:00 am 11-12 year old girls
11:30 am 7 – 11 year old boys

What to wear:
Comfortable shorts, leggings, t-shirts, and socks. NO costumes
How to register:
Pre-registration is available until NOON, Friday, September 11. In-person registration is available on audition day.
All classes will be held on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons. Their level placement at auditions will determine the day and time of your child’s ballet class. Level 1 and Level 2 classes are held once a week for one hour per class. Level 3 classes meet twice a week for one hour and 30 minutes each. There will be a spring recital in May 2027. All dancewear, costumes, and shoes are provided free of charge.
